What do Moose Eat?
Moose are the largest members of the deer family. They are excellent swimmers and live off of both ground-dwelling and aquatic plants. Moose like to eat the catkins of trees such as willows and hazels, as well as the young shoots and saplings of other trees like birches, aspens, maples, dogwoods and poplars. So, What do Moose Eat? They also browse on tall grasses in the water, water lilies, shrubs, mushrooms, ferns, and wildflowers like sunflowers. Moose have been known to eat fruits like apples, blackberries, raspberries and wild strawberries as well. In the winter, when food is scarce, moose eat the bark and needles off of pine trees to support themselves until tastier options return in the spring. Moose are a common sight in some gardens, too, where delectable fruits and vegetables make for easy pickings.
